About

Welcome! Thanks for joining me! I started this journey as an elementary teacher at a Title I school in the projects. I loved that school, and I adored my students. Unfortunately, the school was so under-funded that there was no curriculum (imagine a first-year teacher without any curriculum to follow!) and very few resources. What materials I did have were dry and designed to be used in isolation. I thought THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY!

Thus, I started to put together my own resources and create my own materials in ways that made sense to me and to my students. I wanted to teach them history as a story with dynamic human characters and real-world settings. I wanted to bring locations to life with beautiful pictures and maps. I wanted students to understand how people, places, and events connected. I wanted to build background knowledge in students that have never left their communities. I stayed at that school for 3 years before moving to a school closer to my house (the hour commute was not fun). Now, I work at a classical liberal arts charter school. I still use much of my materials that I had previously created, but now have access to greater resources to inspire and motivate new creations.

I wanted to create this website so that educators, homeschoolers, and families could learn, share, and build scholars together. Join me!
